Marriage Enrichment Resources

Marriage Enrichment Resources

Here are a few resources Ron Pettigrew recommends for those that want to look at some resources before the Marriage Enrichment Retreat

The Four Lenses.  This material is discussed in detail in the book Standing Naked in the Shower, by Nathan Bryce (4 Lenses). For more books, conferences and resources you can go to the organizational website: http://www.insightlearning.com/Home.asp

PREP.  This material is discussed in detail in the book Fighting for Your Marriage by Stanley, Blumberg & Markman.  The PREP approach is a scientifically-based and empirically-tested method of teaching relationship education. It is based on over 40 years of research in the field of relationship health, with much of the research conducted at the University of Denver, and sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. For more information about PREP, Prep Materials or similar resources you can also look at the following links:

The Five Love Languages. This material discussed in detail in several book with titled with same name by Gary Chapman. For his books, conferences and more resources you can go to the following website: http://www.garychapman.org/

Tale of Two Brains DVD. DVD is taken from Mark Gunger’s weekend seminar, “Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage” seminar. In this segment Mark explores the differences between men and women or what he calls, “The Laws of Relational Physics.”  Specifically, how men and women are wired differently.  They act differently, they communicate differently and most importantly, they think differently.  He explains that many of the struggles couples face in marriage are the result of a Head problem, not a Heart problem.

Married for more than 30 years, CEO of Laugh Your Way American and Pastor of Bayside Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mark Gungar is one of the top marriage and family speakers in the United States, with thousand of couples attending his seminars every month.  You can find more about him, other resources and more at www.laughyourway.com   or call 866-52-LAUGH.

Other Resources

Although not directly, throughout the retreat I might also use and/or mention material from the following resources:

The Peacemaker- A Biblical Guide to Reconciliation. This material discussed in detail in the book and conferences by Ken Sande and Peacemaker Ministries. Website: http://www.peacemaker.net

Love and Respect. This material discussed in detail in the book and conferences by Dr. Emerson Emmerichs. Website: http://loveandrespect.com/ . While I was deployed, I worked with a group of our military personal through book, workbook and video series. It was the most successful material I’ve used to date.  They have conferences nationally in many different areas. I highly recommend them.
