Rocky on Parade

In 2015 Wesley Church purchased a painted Rocky the Bulldog as part of the Rocky on Parade program.

Presented through the College of Fine Arts and Communication, Rocky on Parade is a public art project that celebrates the University’s traditions, strengthens the unity of campus and community, contributes to the economic vitality and quality of life in Macomb, and supports student scholarships.

The Rocky on Parade program began in 2013. Bulldogs have been added around Macomb in 2013, 2015, and 2017.  More information can be found at this website or FAQ.

Our Bulldog

Our bulldog is located at the bottom (north end) of the Memorial Garden, along Adams Street. Rocky is facing the WIU campus. The artist that painted our bulldog is Ryan Waller, who was a WIU graduate student at the time.

"This Rocky uses asymmetry to creat a balance of cool colors on one side and warmer colors on the other.  This design will use geometric shapes to make a mosaic feel.  I have incorporated a street artist in the act of spray painting which gives Rocky a monumental feel.”  Ryan Waller

One of our church members noted, "Rocky is still being completed, just as we are!"

Rocky is facing the WIU campus, welcoming all to join us at our church, where we have Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.
