Streaming Waters Work Week spotlight on WMEC/Macomb
The Streaming Waters Work Week began in 2009. More than 745 volunteers from WUMC and the community have completed an array of projects that have helped nearly 145 individuals and families in McDonough County. Volunteers have painted, roofed, cleaned yards, repaired and built fencing and ramps, made and delivered sack lunches, and contributed to streaming God’s love in a variety of ways.
You can help. Volunteers with all levels of skill are needed to do the work. Those of you with construction skills are encouraged to volunteer. We need you. If your willingness to help is greater than your home repair skills, we need you, too. There is always plenty of work to do that doesn’t require specialized skills. We also need people to pack sack lunches and run errands. Everyone with a willingness to participate is encouraged to volunteer. We need you.
In the past, some volunteers have scheduled their vacations during Streaming Waters in order to commit large blocks of time. Others have been able to give a single hour, on a single day. All help is valued and welcome.
Other ways to help: The labor involved in the projects is free but the materials are not. Any amount of money donated to Streaming Waters Work Week will be spent within McDonough County to serve people who live in the county.
What do you get out of it? A lot of fun! The fellowship of other volunteers, sometimes people you may not have had a chance to get to know, is very special. Many of us through the Streaming Waters activities, have forged bonds that continue through the year. You also have a chance to share God’s love with others in the community in visible and active ways.
Please consider donating your time and/or money and your prayers to Streaming Waters Work Week.
